8 Weeks to 5 KM Challenge – Week 2

Mon Run 11/28 (2.4 KM Run/Walk) - 29 Aug 2016

Mon Run 5/28 (2.4 KM Run/Walk) – 29 Aug 2016

Instruction for the day: Go on a 2.4 km moderate run or brisk walk. At this point if you cannot run the entire time you should be able to run/walk it. Our intensity is still moderate but starting to pick up the pace a bit.

I think this is my best timing for 2.4 km so far. A pat to myself on the back! I know this result may seem average to veteran runners, but to me it is a sign of better things to come. I think today is just 1 of those days where you are so in sync that you just keep on running. Hope I can keep up this momentum in the upcoming weeks.

Wed Run 12/28 (8 x 1 min Fast) - 31 Aug 2016

Wed Run 6/28 (8 x 1 min Fast) – 31 Aug 2016

Instruction for the day: This is a 20-minute interval workout. Perform 60 seconds of hard running with a slow 90 seconds walk or jog recovery and repeat. You should be recovered by the end of 90 seconds but not completely recovered.

This is my 2nd interval training run and I am feeling the results already. I kinda like the idea of interval runs as it gave me a chance to mix up my runs a little throughout the week, otherwise, it’d be too repetitive. I heard of tempo runs but I’m not sure is it the same as interval runs, does anyone know that can comment in the feedback box below. I also read somewhere that interval runs help you burn fats even after the run, not sure if it’s true.

Fri Run 13/28 (2.4 KM Run/Walk) - 2 Sep 2016

Fri Run 7/28 (2.4 KM Run/Walk) – 2 Sep 2016

Instruction for the day: Go on a 2.4 km moderate run or brisk walk. At this point if you cannot run the entire time you should be able to run/walk it. Our intensity is still moderate but starting to pick up the pace a bit.

THIS IS MY FASTEST TIMING YET! Just kidding!!! There is some mistake with the app actually, somehow it missed out adding in some parts of my timing. But, today’s run wasn’t too bad anyways. I can totally feel myself conquering the 2.4 km barrier slowly, but surely. I am looking forward to the next milestone of my 8 Weeks to 5 KM Challenge. Keep on running!

Sun Run 14/28 (45 min Run) - 4 Sep 2016

Sun Run 8/28 (45 min Run) – 4 Sep 2016

Instruction for the day: Take 45-minute brisk walk or light jog. Keep the intensity fairly low on this day. The main goal here is to just be active and get used to moving for a longer period of time.

This is my 2nd time running for 45 mins straight and I think I did ok today, considering that today was treadmill day. I did not stop for any walking as my speed for the treadmill is fairly manageable. This may not seem much but it a huge accomplishment for me, I have trouble keeping pace whenever I am running outdoors as I tend to slow down for walks after a while. Starting to get used to these kinda long runs. Week 2 down, 6 more weeks!
